Our Story

Spindle & Spine

Inspired by Craft. Built for Stories.

Books have the power to shape a life. For many children and young people, they offer comfort, adventure, understanding, and belonging. They become lifelong companions—lifelines that help us discover who we are and who we might become.

For years, High Point was home to independent bookstores that served as gathering places for readers, dreamers, and neighbors. When those spaces disappeared, the community lost more than a place to buy books—it lost a place to connect.

Spindle & Spine was born from a desire to bring that sense of connection back.

Rooted in High Point's rich history of craftsmanship and furniture making, our name reflects two traditions that have shaped generations. The spindle represents the artistry, skill, and care that built our city's reputation. The spine represents the stories that inform, inspire, and connect us. Together, they celebrate the makers and storytellers whose work leaves a lasting impact.

Our vision is to create more than a bookstore. We are building a space where people can gather, discover, create, and belong. A place filled with books, gifts, crafts, and thoughtfully curated finds. A place where conversations begin, friendships grow, and curiosity is encouraged.

Like a beautifully crafted piece of furniture, every detail is chosen with purpose. And like a great book, we hope our space invites exploration—offering something new to discover around every corner.

Spindle & Spine is a celebration of craft, community, and the stories that bring us together.
