Our Story
Spindle & Spine
Inspired by Craft. Built for Stories.
Books have the power to shape a life. For many children and young people, they offer comfort, adventure, understanding, and belonging. They become lifelong companions—lifelines that help us discover who we are and who we might become.
For years, High Point was home to independent bookstores that served as gathering places for readers, dreamers, and neighbors. When those spaces disappeared, the community lost more than a place to buy books—it lost a place to connect.
Spindle & Spine was born from a desire to bring that sense of connection back.
Rooted in High Point's rich history of craftsmanship and furniture making, our name reflects two traditions that have shaped generations. The spindle represents the artistry, skill, and care that built our city's reputation. The spine represents the stories that inform, inspire, and connect us. Together, they celebrate the makers and storytellers whose work leaves a lasting impact.
Our vision is to create more than a bookstore. We are building a space where people can gather, discover, create, and belong. A place filled with books, gifts, crafts, and thoughtfully curated finds. A place where conversations begin, friendships grow, and curiosity is encouraged.
Like a beautifully crafted piece of furniture, every detail is chosen with purpose. And like a great book, we hope our space invites exploration—offering something new to discover around every corner.
Spindle & Spine is a celebration of craft, community, and the stories that bring us together.

Our Brand Story
High Point has always been a city of makers.
For generations, skilled craftspeople transformed raw materials into pieces that would become part of people's homes and lives. Their work was built with intention, care, and the belief that the things we create can bring people together.
At Spindle & Spine, we believe stories do the same.
Books have the power to shape who we are. They spark imagination, create understanding, and offer connection. For many children and young people, they become a lifeline—a place of comfort, discovery, and possibility. Yet stories are meant to be shared, and communities thrive when they have spaces where people can gather around them.
Spindle & Spine was born from a desire to create that space.
Our name reflects the intersection of High Point's heritage and our vision for the future. The spindle honors the craftsmanship that built our city and the makers whose work continues to inspire us. The spine represents the books and stories that connect generations, preserve ideas, and remind us of our shared humanity.
More than a bookstore, Spindle & Spine is a place to wander, discover, and belong. A place where books sit alongside thoughtfully curated gifts, crafts, and goods that celebrate creativity and craftsmanship. A place where conversations happen naturally, where readers become friends, and where every visit offers something new to uncover.
Like a great story, we want our space to invite exploration. Like a handcrafted piece built to last, we want it to become part of the fabric of our community.
We are building a place for readers, makers, dreamers, and neighbors—a place where craft and story meet, and where connections are made one chapter at a time.
